New Collective Agreement for Infrastructure Malta’s employees
Infrastructure Malta employees will start reaping the benefits of a new collective agreement. Following several months of negotiations, Infrastructure Malta and the General Workers’ Union have reached an agreement that delivers substantial benefits for the employees, including increased take-home pay, and improved working conditions.
This agreement, marking the first collective agreement specifically designed to cater for the needs of Infrastructure Malta, covers the period 2021 – 2027. It was signed by Ivan Falzon, Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure Malta, and by Riccarda Darmanin, Section Secretary of the Professional, Finance and Services Section within the General Workers’ Union. Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Godwin Mifsud; and General Workers’ Union Secretary General Josef Bugeja presided over the signing.
Expressing gratitude for the successful negotiations, CEO Ivan Falzon commended the collaborative effort among the People and Standards Division, the General Workers' Union, the Ministry and Infrastructure Malta. He said that this agreement reflects a collective dedication to foster a supportive and progressive work environment. He added that this collective agreement is a testament to Infrastructure Malta's ongoing commitment to not only enhance the nation's infrastructure but also ensuring the wellbeing of its employees. “Actions speak louder than words, and this administration continues to put workers first, emphasising our dedication to their professional growth,” concluded Mr. Falzon.
